What is Global Warming?
Global warming is the rise in temperature of the earth's atmosphere. Global waming refers to the observed increases in the average temperature of the earth atmosphere and oceans in recent decades.
What will Global Warming cause?
It is often asked if global warming will effect natural disasters. Will it cause more or worsen the effects of a disaster such as a hurricane. Global warming will not cause hurricanes but it will make them stronger. Because the ocean is getting warmer, tropical storms can pick up more energy and become more powerful. Global warming could turn a category 3 storm into a dangerous category 4 storm.
Global warming is a complex phenomenon and it's full scale impacts are hard to predict far in advance, we do know however that several consequences are highly likely to occur if things do not change and fast. These include;

The polar ice caps melting, melting glaciers and premature snowmelt.

Rising sea levels

Warmer sea surface temperatures which will fuel intense hurricanes

Forests, farms and cities will face new troublesome pests and more insect borne dieases

The disruption of coral reefs and alpine meadows could drive several plant and animal species to extinction
What causes global warming?
Air pollution such as carbon dioxide and methane gases are collecting in our atmosphere and acting like a blanket around the world. The heat can get in, but it can't get out. It is being trapped inside, forcing the planet to warm up. The main causes of Carbon Dioxide, or CO2 are automobiles and coal burning power plants.

Global warming is happening, it’s coming straight for us and there is nothing we can do to prevent it. Or is there?
We all know the causes of global warming, many shrug them off, others try to help here and there by switching of lights and appliances, not leaving taps running and even closing the fridge door while preparing food. We know this is the kind of things we should be doing to prevent global warming because they tell us on the news, they tell us in the magazines, they show us on the adverts. But what about one of the main culprits in climate change and global warming?
The meat industry.
Our rainforests are being destroyed, in fact around 170,000 square kilometeres of our rainforests get trashed every single year in order to feed all the cows ready for burger meat. 170,000 square kilometeres, that could feed the people in the third world countries.
Billions and billions of animals are being produced for slaughter every single year. What happens to all their excrement and wind. Well the cows alone munch their way through 170,000 square kilometeres of rainforrests in a year, what goes in must come out. And it does, acid rain is one of the main effects of all the animal excrement. Anually 2 billion tons of methane gas is released from the animals into our air. Methane gas is 23 times more damaging the CO2.

And what else is all the media hype about. Water shortage! Scientists have proven that if things carry on we will be facing droughts and floods because of problems with water supply. Well here's a fact for you. It takes 140 litres of water to grow 1kg of vegetables such as onions. It takes 9,680 litres of water for just 1kg of beef.
